So how does TCU going to the Big East make that worse? Will they now get 17 of 17, lol? Sometimes I wonder if the logic center of the brain is turned on on this board. News flash: they are already light years ahead of us. A TCU move to the BE won't change that in any material fashion.

Worse? I used the word disadvantaged. Those are two different words-get it? Ponyboy still doesn't get it. We need to be where TCU is. They have beaten us for 11 out of 12 years. Arguably they have outrecruited us for 22 out of 22 years-only debatable 2 years. They have outrecruited June Jones like a drum every year. IT CAN"T GET ANY WORSE THAN IT ALREADY IS. That's not what was said above. You seem to fail to understand that the status quo is unacceptable. The goal is to have a stronger program than TCU not be satisfied with being dominated by TCU. I counted 5 starters from TCU who were offered by SMU in one of the last 5 years-and this happens over and over again. I never said it would get worse in football on the field-although it will in other sports-those were your words. It can hardly get worse in Football because TCU is already at the Top with 2 straight regular season unbeaten and untied teams 23-0. SMU will be DISADVANTAGED in recruiting, revenue, budget, national exposure and visibility, BCS automatic qualification, bowl affiliations, Ncaa Tourney selection and payouts. Those are the disadvantages-now tell how any of that is untrue.

Oh, I got it Kemosabe. And you're now making the point I have been making with one small wrinkle you're missing: EVERYBODY IN THE FRIGGIN' NCAA NEEDS TO BE WHERE TCU IS. They're a top three team, genius. This Big East move does not hurt us in any material way.

I'll take my prize now, thanks.

...and all of those schools would be further disadvantaged to the TCU program if they get a BCS bid for the reasons I clearly stated in each of my 10 posts. You rebutted exactly zero of those disadvantages I invited you to deny. Quit embarrassing yourself in this thread.

This is like banging your head against a brick wall trying to explain the issue. There is a shocking detatchment from reality with some people.

are we still going on and on about how much hotter this other chick is than our own significant other?

"and if you think that Muffie being so hot is just me being superficial, let me tell you how it's not. She doesnt tan by the pool...she spray tans, so no skin cancer. She weighs in at less than her ideal weight, so no diabetes. Her chest is manmade, so it has less upkeep and less maintenance. Face it, she's hot, much hotter than you, and a lot of that has to do with the fact that you made some unfortunate choices when you were younger. DO YOU SEE HOW MUCH HOTTER THIS CHICK IS THAN YOU

Can someone please lower themselves enough to explain to a poor simpleton like me how, if TCU is already winning 15 of 17 recruits, how their going to the Big East will now further disadvantage us an any material way? Repeat: They are already winning 15 of 17 recruits prior to any Big East move.

Thanks in advance.

GEEEEEZ. OK here it is-because TCU if it is a BCS school will now have about 3 times better chance of getting that high percentage of Top 100 recruits who simply refuse to consider non-BCS schools. That is the vast majority of top recruits. I hope you aren't confusing the players SMU offers with the top recruits in Texas. June Jones offers more than his predecessors but still doesn't bother with most-and doesn't have a shot at them realistically. TCU (and SMU) regularly loses players not because of their program but simply because they are not BCS. Those "17 recruits" from the past will not be a strong as the next "17 recruits" in the future when they are recruiting from a higher profile.

I think that there is some talking past one another going on here. Easy to misunderstand when talking online. To me, here is the point. If TCU were to stay in a non-AQ conference, like the MWC is now, SMU would have a better chance to get on a level plane with them. If TCU gets in a BCS conference, it makes that task more difficult, because of money, recruiting, media attention, etc. TCU has managed to become a perennial top ten team with recruiting classes not highly ranked and few "four star ot five star" recruits, just as Boise State has. Imagine what they will be like if they have the same clout in recruiting as TU!

Another point to consider is that TV markets have a lot to do with all this. If TCU is playing in the BE, it will help ratings of their games and they will be perceived as having the DFW market wrapped up. That will be a further hurdle for SMU to jump if we are being considered for a AQ conference. Like it or not, TV and TV money is driving all of this.

One last point-TCU can probably afford to more easily match offers for Gary Patterson and he likely will be more receptive if they become a BCS school-for the exact same advantages listed above.

And they'll attract more quality coaching candidates if he leaves, and they'll have more money, and they'll have a pre-set path to the Orange Bowl, and they'll have more football publicity, and the list goes on.

Reminiscent of the football attendance at Ford Stadium.

You mean the 35k plus we had for TCU/SMU this year? Yeah the stadium was a ghost town that night.

Guessing he was talking about the other 4 games that have been played at Ford this year...............

Here is where the confusion lies. Our stated goal is not to be TCU. Our goal is Top 25. As I have pointed out, this TCU move to the Big East will not deter us in any way from reaching that goal.

With ESPN losing Boise (with the move to the MWC), TCU will be ESPN's new love (if they go to the big east). Which magnifies everything above. I had hoped we would be that superficial love if we could get good fast enough.
