Richard Justice: Big 12 Looking to Add Houston, SMU, or TCUModerators: PonyPride, SmooPower Re: Richard Justice: Big 12 Looking to Add Houston, SMU, orSMU "fans" make me ill with this poor pitiful SMU can't compete schtick. Better focus-What do we need to compete and how do we get there. What happened to the $MU (with dollar sign) that Skip Bayless used to write about. Not talking about just the Rich Kid attitude but the confidence we could compete with every team including several we used to dominate.

Re: Richard Justice: Big 12 Looking to Add Houston, SMU, orA&M needs political support for SEC-eed. Houston needs political support to get into the big 12. There are millions of U of H and A&M alumni in Texas.....
Re: Richard Justice: Big 12 Looking to Add Houston, SMU, or
I posted here because of his reference of wanting to go back to 12 teams. To be honest, it's what the networks want. If they want to strengthen their foothold on the MetroPlex and Houston - you'll see it. Also, Texas is growing at a fanatical rate. Networks are well aware of that too. The Woodlands where I am...is almost Big10 country now because of all the transplants ![]()

On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney? Good, Bad...I'm the one with the gun.
Re: Richard Justice: Big 12 Looking to Add Houston, SMU, orI don't understand why you are all so pessimistic. The landscape is ever-changing and we will have our opportunity. We just need to be ready to take it. We may just luck into the Big XII if they decide to go with 12 teams. If UH leaves CUSA will probably target Temple moving Southern Miss to the West division or target La Tech to replace UH. If UCF and UH leave the conference should stay at 10 teams as the conference championship game doesn't really do anything for the conference anyway. I really hope we do get into the Big XII soon, but don't kid yourselves into thinking we would fall from grace, that already happened several years ago. As a fan, I would keep supporting the school in a 9, 10, or 12 team CUSA just as I do now. Nonetheless, moving to the Big XII would be amazing for SMU as it would help precipitate our ascension and we really would be the Miami and USC of Texas.
Re: Richard Justice: Big 12 Looking to Add Houston, SMU, orIs the Big 12 brining in enough money that splitting the pie 12 ways (adding SMU TCU UH) vs 12 ways (adding UH) would allow UT to get their desired share and leave enough to keep the rest of the conference around? At some point the revenue drops low enough that someone like Big East could make them a better deal and steal a block of 4 teams or so.

Re: Richard Justice: Big 12 Looking to Add Houston, SMU, or
The fear is that this will touch off a major round of expansion that could pick all of the "good" teams into AQ and leave us behind. At that point you have very few slots to move into later, and you are tainted with the assocation with the La Techs, UNTs, etc. even moreso that we are now. That said, Big 12 is not our only option. If TCU is not taken into Big 12 and Big 12 doesn't blow up, there is still a decent chance Big East could expand with us to support TCU and build a Texas market. Also, with SEC moving you have to think that the Big 12 hedgemony is shattered. Now when people think local football they think Big 12 entirely. With SEC around, you don't. You can think more than one conference. Perhaps that'll make infiltrating the DFW market more appealing for other conferences who might take a chance on a rebuilding project. We just need to get into an AQ conference, start collecting that check, and get the prestige to recruit with, and we can do great things, especially if we are there with the Frogs (as much as I hate to say it) to doubleteam the market here. A lot of UH alums in the state capitol, too. Although most of them are cleaning toilets... Nobody in football should be called a genius. A genius is a guy like Norman Einstein.

Re: Richard Justice: Big 12 Looking to Add Houston, SMU, or
EXCELLENT EXCELLENT POST Yes, Ken Pye was our main obstacle, but these yo-yo 'fans' who couldn’t see what was happening, who supported Turner, Copeland, who bought into SMU Commitment and everything else that was sold to them…what a complete group of idiots these people are proven to be. Like you Stallion, I called this 20+ years ago. Who couldn’t see this?????????? Apparently a lot of well-educated sheep with an SMU diploma, that’s who. I use to tell people Pye was a big problem, but apathy by our ‘fans’ was just as big a problem. Zero accountability from Turner as well. He sat on his hands for more years than Pye was President of our school. Now the window is closing and while it may not make a difference, it wouldn't hurt if we could pull off some meaningful wins over the next couple of years. Best way to achieve that????...recruit the talent necessary to beat a BCS team. That is pretty difficult to do, regardless of your coaching prowess, when 70% of current class has no legitimate offers outside of SMU’s. All this matters and is inter-related. Thank you Stallion for keeping an honest perspective on it, you are one of only a handful of posters on this board who are worth reading. Oh, and can't wait for the idiotic sheep to respond that Texas recruiting doesn't matter.
Re: Richard Justice: Big 12 Looking to Add Houston, SMU, ordo we really want beebe as our commish if we go to the big 12? he clearly blew it now for the 3rd time

how about...the BLVD and then free buses to the game! "There ain't nothing you can't solve with one more beer"
Re: Richard Justice: Big 12 Looking to Add Houston, SMU, or
First I agree with Stallion's post regarding the school's past sins and lack of leadership. As always, I disagree with any personal attack on any individual posters. That being said on a more humorous note, I normally have to pay $14.99 to watch this type of fellatio. Where should I send my payment? ![]() Ponyfans.com voice of reason

Re: Richard Justice: Big 12 Looking to Add Houston, SMU, orWe need to be concentrating on the NOW and the FUTURE, not digging up so much of the past that cannot be changed. I would hope there is a lot of action going on in the background to make something happen. Top 25 in everything means making the moves necessary to position us to win in these situations.
