Lack of funds??? Why isn't the band getting a loan from Leach...
Everything helps-- & bands can jazz their crowds. Considering how many TT fans will be in the stands, this is a positive.

This reminds me of a question that I have. TTU has the "Goin Band from Raider Land"....did they steal that from LSU's "Golden Band from Tiger Land," or was it the other way around?
I guess now it's the "Band that ain't goin but is staying home in Raider Land"
Funny thing is when I lived in Dallas the TTU band was halftime entertainment at a Cowboy game once. I guess they've fallen on tough times since.

Now that they've outlawed throwing tortillas at the games, perhaps the band has lost some of their routines!?!

Yeah, we will have no visiting bands this year, kinda lame. I'd think any of the schools we play would LOVE to visit SMU and Dallas considering their hometowns (tulsa, lubbock, ruston...). People say 'yeah yeah yeah, the smu band can afford to travel because they're small' but still, can't these schools even send a 30 person pep band or something?
This year, the Mustang Band is travelling to TCU, Ok State, and Rice. Be sure to come along and see us blow away their fans with our amazing Mustang Jazz.

Waitaminute...?!?!?!? Am I understanding you to say that NONE of the teams playing SMU in Dallas will have their bands with them???? This will be a boon for SMU! Visiting bands can really pump up their fans and their teams with fight songs and the like. I can't wait to hear the SMU Mustang Band play "Peruna" over and over and over....and drive the visiting teams and fans crazy!!!!

Other than Tech, the visiting teams to Ford this year don't have much of a following. Rice will put a few in the stands as will Tulsa - but after Tech, SMU won't have a game that has even 20K in the stands.

There are over 400 members of the Goin' Band from Raiderland. Depending on where the game is, it can cost anywhere from $75k-$100k to send them on away games. Sending them to the Tangerine Bowl two years ago cost over $250k, and wouldn't have happened without a band alum stepping up and footing the bill.
They won the Sudler Trophy (equivalent to a National Championship for marching bands) in 1999.
The band will not be traveling to Dallas because the music school would rather save the money for conference road trips.
PS: The band was the first in the NCAA to travel with the football team to away games, hence the name "Goin' Band." Read all about it at http://www.goinband.org

Facts will only confuse him when he's busy bashing.
Sorry the Tech band won't be here. I always like seeing both schools represented at halftime. But hey, now we'll be favored to win (right?), so I'm OK with it.
