I jumped on the Dallas Morning News website, and they didn't have much.

What do you make of the note in there about how Bennett says Phillips will start - unless one of the other guys beats him out? Wasn't that assumed from the get-go? He's the incumbent, and if one of the two JUCOs doesn't beat him out, then wasn't it safe to assume he wouldn't lose his job to the #4 or #5 guy?

Just thought it was a curious statement.

The implication was that he has won the starting position for the opener, but he will be pushed every week in practice and if he slips, one of the other guys is going to get their chance.

He had not won the starting spot for the opener up to this point.

I understand all three of the QB's looked great. From what I hear, the real first look of the new offense, excited the players once they saw it put together and in action. WR supposedly looked real good, I bet the 2 deep roster and final positioning was at stake for those positions left with a question mark. Final scrimmage is coming up and game planning will have to start soon.

The QB depth is really encouraging. Most of the talk was that it was down to Phillips and Eckert, but I keep hearing that Romo has played (practiced) really well lately, and given the coaches confidence that we have three guys who could get the job done. I know they haven't done it in a game yet, but when's the last time we were three-deep at QB?
