Interesting notes in today's DMN:

--> As noted in another thread, Foy Munlin has a sprained left thumb and sprained left shoulder. Sounds like it's not too serious, though, since it says he'll be back at practice Monday. Thank god.

--> LT Darrin Johnson and WR Matt Rushbrook also will be back Monday after dealing with an ankle (Johnson) and dental work (Rushbrook).

--> Specifically cited Justin Boren and Derron Brown as having had strong preseason camps.

--> Ieremia-Stansbury, Lee and Harris as the starting LBs. All three have experience and good-to-exceptional speed. Could be a strong trio, and I'd say we have better depth than at any point in eons.

Thanks for the rundown, DH. As an out of towner, I wish the DMN would be a little more consistent with posting their SMU blurbs online. The current system seems arbitrary at best.

As far as our linebackers go, I know Rico is hostile/mobile, but is anybody else at all concerned about his size at LB? Maybe I'm wrong, but he can't be much north of 200. Anybody know his weight?

He's listed on the preseason roster at 6-2, 215. Based on the way he looked in practice, I'd say that's pretty accurate. He looks extremely strong. And he obviously loves to hit - maybe he should have been an LB all along?

I'm a big believer in the importance of offensive line play. How long has Johnson's ankle been hurting him?

Glad to hear Boren is coming on - I know there a bunch of fans on this board who like his ability. I'm planning to make at least 4 games this year, so I'll check him out then.

I think they're usually there, just hard to find. If you go to SportsDay and then to the colleges section, there's a link called "Notebook" or something. That's it. But you can't get there by just using the menu on the left side. (You probably already know this - sorry if I'm pointing out the obvious.)

No, I didn't know that. Thanks Ponyfan.
