There were 3 SMU discus throwers. Any idea how they did?

SMU site says Tammert and Hopley finished 2nd and 3rd in the qualifying round. They're both in the finals, which they're supposed to show sometime tonight on NBC (7-11 Dallas time, I think).

Tammert got 4th,
He competed very well , only 1 meter short of his all time best. Incredible considering it was in a closed stadium.

Hopley made the finals, but finished 8th or 9th, not sure, he had a long season

And SMU doesn't have a men's track & field team any longer...how disgusting is that!

Baylor sure got a lot of air time with Jeremy Wariner's gold medal win! I lost count of the number of times the announcers mentioned Baylor!

The tie to Michael Johnson was a big reason for all the mentions of Baylor. It was a main story line.

A news agency in Europe is reporting that the Gold Medal Winner in the Discus was caught trying to maniuplate his urine sample for his drug test. If true, this means Tammert, could move up to the Bronze

You were correct. I believe this is the first Mustang medal of the Athens games . . .
