apparently unconfirmed reports leaking out on the CUSA Fan Forum as to Cross-Divisional opponents for the first two year cycle in 2005-2006 have us playing Marshall (on the road in 2005) but not Southern Miss or UCF. That means we will get 2 out of 3 from among UAB, Memphis and ECU. Anybody want to confirm?

I think Memphis' opponents were announced in their newspaper and we are not one. I guess that means Marshall, UAB and East Carolina. Marshall game is on the road, that'll be tough.

So far we have UAB confirmed
ECU and Marshall are rumors at the moment but right now it is the only logical answer sense those two are the only ones that have openings still and we have two openings
Edit: Marshall has just confirmed to be playing at home againist SMU meaning Marshall will come here in 2006 Im guessing

Copeland announced at the summer committee meetings that aTm was a done deal. I suppose it could have changed, but if so it was pretty unwise to announce something like this prematurely. My guess is they are still finalizing the dates. aTm wants a Dallas game.

Maybe its just becuase we have been flogging ourselves in the West for so long - but that 05 schedule looks fun to me - we have finally shed ourselves of those team on the west coast nobody has ever heard of - and I know UAB, Houston, and Tulane won't bring a ton of interest, but alot more then SJSU or Fresno, plus its just easier to have an opinion and want to go to the game.

if the A&M game is a lock then it for sure would be in 2005 but also 3 of the next 4 years which I have no idea which one would not be in the group.
Does 2006 let teams have 11 or 12 games? Cause if its 11 then 2006 is already finalized meaning that would be it
SMU vs A&M

We will play A&M at College Station next year(2005) and then at Ford in 2007 and at College Station in 2008. We skip playing them in 2006.

Updated the schedule
I find it weird if they want to come to Dallas why are they only facing us once in Dallas...

All I know is, we'd better have established some kind of winning reputation by 2006, because that OOC schedule has the makings of some unimpressive home attendance numbers. Let's hope!

If the rumors about A$M on the schedule are true, and our expectations about last year's freshman class being on track are true, then 2007 would be a very, very nice occasion to thump the Ags in Dallas.
A lot of ifs, I know. But it would be nice.

As for 06 - I will happily exchange a few fans for a few wins. Then the fans that shart showing up will be our fans instead of borrowing everyone elses.

I agree. I would much rather Copeland schedule teams that we can beat, even D1-AA teams. Wins will fill the stands and we won't have to hope that a particular school travels well.
there are even some schools that we could schedule that would be winnable as well as draw a crowd, such as Grambling (that comes to mind as there was some discussion of trying to drop OkSt for them over the summer)
