The auction for the 1982 SMU SWC championship ring just ended tonight (Mon 8/23). Without looking, what's your best guess on the final bid amount? Wow.

Don't know who Foster was, but judging from the size of the ring, he must have been huge.

Last I saw, it was around $300, so I'll say . . . $750.

Time to go look.

Someone should buy the ring and give it back to the poor man, or at least give it to the University to display

That would have been a great thing to do. An expensive thing to do, however.
I wonder if there is a story behind this ring and how it ended up on eBay in the first place.

This is why I do not appraise jewelry.

Go to ebay and do a general search under "SMU". Then scroll down and look at the left hand side of the page. There will be a section near the bottom on the left that you can check for "completed items". That will bring up about 250 SMU completed sales. Then refine your search for "SMU ring", and the info on the ring in question will show up. I believe you will need to be an ebay registered user to get there.

Or you could go to the original thread on this subject on this board and find the link in the first post.

That is almost like cheating PK, but it sure is easier. I would suggest PKs' method over mine.
