After holding a 17-3 lead at the half, SMU drops to 0-4 by allowing Hawaii to come from behind for a 38-31 win in OT! CAVAN MUST GO!

Once again, Cavan shows his inability to lead the Mustangs to a win by allowing an opponent to come from behind and win in OT! There were big plays and stupid mistakes in this contest by the Mustangs! But this was a sure win! But Cavan allows the Mustangs to rest on their laurels and allow the Warriors to win the game! Hey, Cavan! PACK YOUR BAGS!!!! THE CAVAN CARAVAN IS ABOUT TO MOVE OUT OF DALLAS!!!

Will someone PLEASE explain to me why Cavan tried to pass the ball on all four plays in OT? RUN THE FRIGGIN' BALL!!!! SMU's running game was combined well with its passing game in this contest but not so well that it would have won the game outright in OT!

I AM SO DISGUSTED! The Mustangs played with a lot of heart once again...but heart is not what wins football games alone! EXECUTION WINS GAMES! CAVAN HAS YET TO SHOW THE MUSTANGS HOW TO EXECUTE ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY HAVE A TWO TOUCHDOWN LEAD AT THE HALF!!!

PACK YOUR BAGS, CAVAN! YOUR DAYS AT SMU ARE NUMBERED!!!!

& #%& @$ #(*^ @# %@#^ #$ @#%!!! AAARRRGGGHHH!!!!!

ARE YOU KIDDING?

First and goal at the 5. Pipkins is in the backfield instead of Briggs or Kincade, which tells Hawaii we ain't trying to run the thing. On the last play of the game, we throw to Jay Taylor, a true freshman (admittedly a talented one) who has not set foot on the field all day. He may have the body of Randy Moss and the hands of Jerry Rice, but that's unfair to ask of the guy. Why not try Briggs and Kincade? It may take two or three tries, but they ran OK, when they had the chance. Let Briggs pound and Kincade slash. The Hawaii pass rush was all over Page in the second half - we should have at least TRIED the ground.

As much as I believe the addage about cooler heads pervailing, I am rapidly coming around to MrMustang's way of thinking.

Staring Page was a good idea.

But once again, kneeling on the ball before halftime proved that this coach doesn't know how to put a game away.

This game also demonstrated the difference superior coaching can make. Superior coaching allows an untalented team to beat an inept team. Let's talk halftime adjustments. How many times did Hawaii run off-tackle on the left side before we picked up on it?

And when you're first and goal on the five, have a hoss like Briggs in the backfield... You could average 1.25 yards a carry and score. When you compress the field like that, passing gets tougher. What in the heck was the Offensive Coordinator thinking?

Probably about all of those cigarettes he smokes and how much he would love to get his hands on one in that high pressure situation, but smoking is not allowed in the press box.
