From Pre-Season AA Candidate, DE Adell Duckett
On SMU and the Upcoming Game:
“I think SMU likes playing us. We will have a lot of fans in Dallas. They will have a lot of fans as well. I know they would like nothing better than to start their season with a win after the season they had last year. We want to try to get a victory, too, and start our season off right. They give us a good game every year and it’s going to be fun. We will see how it goes. We have been watching a lot of film and I think we have a good idea of what to expect from them. Their quarterback is more mobile and they have spread out passes. Their package revolves around their quarterback and they don’t know who that is yet. I’m sure we will have to make some adjustments from the sidelines as the game goes on.â€
Head Coach Mike Leach
On the Upcoming SMU Game:
“Both offenses are about distribution. Both offenses are about touching the ball. We have learned a lot about distribution. We are less experienced than last year but we are bigger than last year. Glover, Hicks, Haverty and Fuller are all pretty experienced. Young guys are playing well but they are still inexperienced. We traded experience for athleticism. Our biggest receiver is Glover at 5’7â€. He has always been steady in his preparation and work level. He has steadily improved especially through the spring and the off-season. I think he will do a really good job.â€
"We are starting to see how things are going to go defensively. We are still young and Duckett anchors the front. Keyunta Dawson is really emerging as a fast, explosive guy which will make it harder for teams to double team Duckett. I think what Duckett did last year is extremely impressive considering he is usually double-teamed. The biggest thing is we have more people so we will not wear down in the front."
