SMU 23 TT 21

Postby SWC2010 » Mon Aug 30, 2004 11:04 pm

ok... here's how it plays out

EMOTIONS CARRY THE DAY...

[1] TT struggle with new QB & WR that r not yet on same page, while an Adami led SMU "D" bends but does not break & checks Tech Air Attack;
[2] Coach Burns "O" keeps TT defense on their heels;
[3] OFF THE CHARTS super effort by every 'Stang creates a couple of 2nd half breaks;
[4] Late 4Q TT turnover gives SMU shot at FG & steals 1st victory in a LONG while!!!!!

Now, what say you???

I'd say #2 and #3 are possible, but #1 is a long shot.

The Air Raid has cut through some extraordinarily talented defenses over the last few years.

And I hate to agree with a Tech guy (gawd, what's wrong with me?) but their QBs did complete 75 or 80 percent of their passes in the spring game. Combined! As in ALL the QBs. Now you can read that as bad defense, or just one of those "hot days" for the offense, or whatever you want to call it, but them's some gaudy numbers.

I think it will be the defense that has to shine. We won't win a shootout with these guys. But if we can hold them to three touchdowns, we might very well make a game of it. Remember, their emotions will be up too. They will have lots of fans at Ford and they've been waiting for a long time for the season to start. The key is hopefully forcing a few turnovers early on their offense. If that happens, their emotions go the other way. I think we will try and establish the run early to allow the offense to be more open and freeze their safeties and to give Munlin a chance to show the Raiders what they will be missing.

New WR?

Postby 83RedRaider » Tue Aug 31, 2004 4:13 pm

We are returning 1st & 2nd string F, the TB.

We are replacing Wes Welker w/ a starter from X, Nehimiah Glover. This position only comes off the filed when we use an extra blocker. That guy is a SR.

X will be used w/ a RS SO who had 32 catches for 498 yards & 5 TDs. Not exactly a new WR.

Z will use 2 RS SO. Again, not real new players. Not a lot of game experience, but starting their 3rd year in the system.

Y has a RS JR w/ backup time the last 2 seasons or a BYU transfer & participated in spring drills & maybe practices last year too. He is the closest thing to a new player you can expect to see in the game.

We don't really have a lot new WR. We don't have the experience we did last season, but not new WR.

Hopefully, Foy has a game he can be proud of. He's paid his dues.
