Page played great. I think the best plays he made were the ones that won't show up in the box score. He scrambled great to get away from trouble, and was incredibly calm, making smart throws. He did a terrific job. He should be proud of the way he played, as we all should.

Just read your game report - David sounds like he has a really level head on his shoulders. From everything I've heard, he's a great guy.

Some of the plays where he scrambled away from the defense just to get the ball away were amazing, even when he didn't complete the pass. Remember the one in the first quarter where he broke out of jail, raced to the left sideline and barely got off a pass to Cardwell in the back of the end zone? Not only did he get the pass off, but he also threw it over Cody's back shoulder, where either Cody could catch it or nobody could catch it. The play didn't result in a touchdown, but we didn't lose yardage with a sack, and he didn't risk an interception. David is a player with terrific mobility and even better decision making. He might not be tall enough to be a coach's prototypical quarterback, but there's no getting around the fact that he understands the game and is a very good quarterback.

I certainly wouldn't go so far as to say Page played great. Two fumbles and an interception, remember? That'll loose a game against just about anyone.

The only reason that game was close is because we played a talentless Hawaiian team. They have only two decent players -- one of which was out.

Played great? You're deluding yourself.

Was Page the right choice? Absolutely. Page avoided at least a half dozen sacks with his mobility, running for first downs, dumping the ball away and keeping the offense alive. I think his talent was largely the difference maker in getting some decent numbers on the scoreboard this week. Prior to this week, our male cheerleaders were getting a bit flabby about the triceps.
