Did he play in the TCU game? I didn't see him. Is he hurt? How bad?

Will he be back in the lineup this week? He made some great plays against Tech.

Jones didn't play? then who played as a nickel corner?

I didn't go to the game obviously, but I am getting the impression that we played a base 4-3 for a lot of the TCU game. Is that accurate?

Yes, that's right. When Nnabuife got hurt and with Rico Harris out, that cost us a lot of speed at the nickel LB spots, and we discarded that package entirely. In fact, I can only remember a couple of plays when we used it at all. I can only assume it would have helped while Reggie Harrell was doing his Terrell Owens impersonation (minus the obnoxious look-at-me posing after every catch).

I'm not suggesting for a second that Akinyemi or Humphrey shouldn't play - they were great against Tech and pretty good against TCU, despite the score and stats (could have been a lot worse, but those two made some plays). But Jones looked sensational against TT. Who's the last Pony DB to knock away two TDs in the same game? We've had fast CBs and tall CBs before - he's both. Hell, maybe we should play nickel all the time (after the OSU game) since most WAC teams throw all the time anyway.

I agree, I want to see Brandon Jones on the field more, but with OSU's run-heavy offense, Akinyemi might have a big game. Little Dude seems pretty good coming up to stuff the run.

Based on the audio from the Bennett press conference Monday, it sounds like OSU runs the ball a lot, and therefore we might be inclined to stack the line more, rather than playing a lot of nickel packages, so Jones' playing time might be limited again this weekend. Once San Jose rolls into town, he'll be out there a lot.
