Interesting notes in the DMN...

It says that Sturdivant will play Saturday, and that Harper will change positions to cover for Nnabuife.

I find this interesting. Did Fitzgerald play much during the TCU game? Interesting that he is being held out of the saftey rotation at this point; I wonder if he is being moved to linebacker, where he played in the spring. That would make sense considering the rash of injuries and lack of experience and depth at linebacker. TCU really took advantage of McCrary on Saturday.

I read it differently. I read it that Sturdivant will get some playing time, but I gathered that meant that Harper and Fitzgerald would be the starting safeties. The coaches, by all accounts, are thrilled with both players, which I would think means they'd be the top two, at least with Nnabuife out.

Of course, it might also mean they're going to play a lot of nickel this weekend, moving Fitzgerald into Nnabuife's role as the safety/linebacker - and he has the speed to do it. Which I guess means your post was right. :!:

I hope our game plan is not to play a lot of nickel, OSU has made 80% of their offensive yardage on the ground. It's a different team now that Woods and Fields are gone. Our only hope is to stop the run and make an inexperienced freshman throw the ball. With 2-3 starting LB's out, it's going take a lot of Bennett's defensive magic to stop Morency or he may have a career day similar to Woods last year.

Right, stopping the run will be key. Tougher with Adami out the first half. It could be a long game.
