Now we have to tape 'em up and get ready to try a win a couple of conference games.
Maybe on the open date we can get a game with the US Ryder Cup team.

I hate to see that growing list of injuries. Sounds like Muse could be lost for the season. Going into WAC play, I thought we'd be competitive with all but Fresno and Boise, but now I'm not so sure. San Jose is a big game, but we are so banged up I'm no longer optimistic about this even one. After this one, I'm looking at Nevada and Tulsa as two we may be able to compete with, but right now this early schedule appears to have been incredibly damaging. I think we all need to prepare for another long, painful season. Hope I'm wrong.

I was under the impression that we didn't play a couple of defensive players because of injury. They may well be ready by next Saturday. We have a more athletic team than last year with more depth. The one step faster talent that TT, TCU and OSU have caused real difficulties for our Ponies. Most WAC teams will not have that level of overall talent and advantage over us. We are young but just got a huge education in play the game with the big boys. Hopefully that will translates to a better team as well. Also, teams with athletes that are not quite as capable as the ones we just finished playing are not as capable of running more sophisticated schemes. Disguising coverages are not as effected and funning stunts in the middle are not executed as well. Definitely a plus for us. We have had one tough loss and two blowouts against much better teams. Now we face competition that is better suited for out team. We can win next Saturday and win more games beyond that.

The best decision Coach Bennett and his staff have made this year was to sit the borderline-healthy guys yesterday, like Darrin Johnson and Rico Harris, etc. If they can go next week, then the decision was brilliant, because yesterday was nothing more than a day of survival, and we did (albeit barely).
Did Alvin Nnabuife play yesterday? Will he be ready for San Jose?

While that might have been a "brilliant decision" to sit those players, it was absolutely stupid to keep Muse in on the punt team in a 45-0 blowout. Muse was clearly our best pass rusher and now he is out for the year.
