Effects of this WIN!

Congratulations to all the Ponies, players and coaches alike.
With that said - does this change anyone's opinion about Cavan's status for next year? Should he stay because of the noted improvement against Hawaii and San Jose State?
Regardless of what happens, hell of an effort by ALL the coaches to keep their heads up, keep the players focused and working hard enough to get the win. Have a tall cold one on the plane back (coaches only) and give us a home win to cheer at Homecoming.

Well, it's only one win...but it's a start and it tells me the guys haven' quit on this coaching staff. That's important. We still need to run off a string of victories to get some momentum going for this program. Anything less than 5-6 probably warrants a change. On the other hand, if this team could SHOCK the nation by beating Fresno or finish the season with a win at NC to go 6-5, then I don't see a change being made. This game tonite was all about ShanDerrick Charles stepping up and giving the Ponies a lift they desperately needed!

Doesn't change my opinion about Mike Cavan one bit.
Congratulations to the team for getting a win. However, please remember that BOTH teams were winless coming into this contest so someone had to lose. Thank goodness it wasn't us!

Charleston Pony, you have a deal. If we go 6-5 (and therefore qualify for a bowl????), Cavan can stay. Otherwise, get Mike Stoops, Junior Spurrier or Brent Venables on the horn, pronto.

Let's be realistic here: we could go 6-5 and technically we would qualify for a bowl, but NO WAY we get invited to a bowl bacause of our horrible fan support. We need to start winning regularly and packing Ford before we will get any bowl consideration. Realistically, we need to win the WAC outright to qualify for a bowl and that's out of the question this year.

Let's not get so euphoric about a win over Spare Jose State. Instead of being 0-7 going into the Nevada game, we'll only be 1-6. I pray that the idiots that be will get rid of Cavan. Bring on Charlie Waters!

I think we can be euphoric if we want to. If you want to be doom and gloom, go ahead, but don't try to bring others with you. I think we'll win before Nevada, and don't think Nevada is a pushover. They lost to LaTech with seconds on the clock, and still scored over 40 points in the loss. We'll be playing there also. That is not a gimme game, just as none of them are. We can enjoy this win as long as we want to!

Note to Houston Pony...
A bye week on October 20th does not equal a loss. You get to keep the same record after that you had before. Therefore, we would (via your argument in which you imply a loss to UTEP) be 1-5 instead of 0-6 going into the Nevada game.
However, as an SMU fan and normal human being that saw that meager UTEP was inhaled by the Hawaii prism warriors, I believe we will handle UTEP and be 2-4 going into the Nevada game.
Please excuse the eu4ia.
