Hey Student Body -
Y'all were awesome last night! Staying until the very end, cheering your lungs out, and storming the field - way to go! Watching your team sing to a packed student section was the highlight of the game for me. It's gonna take a village to turn this program around and you all are a HUGE part of that. Keep it up!

This was posted by JSArnold under the Goal Post Down thread:
The left upright is what hit the kid, and it did in fact come down ridiculously fast. I was looking at him when it happened, probaly no more than 4 feet away. And as for Garrett, the student that was injured, he is still in ICU, but he is concious and completely responsive. He has a skull fracture. but no brain damage. He is allowed visitors and should be out soon.

I thought those things came down awfully quick as well. However, my son indicated they are design to do just what they did. In fact it looked as if they have been re-assembled in fairly easily.
A skull fracture sounds pretty scary. Glad he seems to be doing well. The good news is, the students shouldn't have to do it again unless we're invited to the Sugar Bowl in TCU's place.

Oh, is TCU going to any bowl? Currently there are 5 CUSA teams ahead of TCU in the sagarin rankings.

We were waiting outside as the players came out after the game, I found the most interesting comment from more than one player (aside from the obvious win) was how much they enjoyed the student body cheering and getting behind them and not leaving in the first quarter. It really made a impact on them to look over and see a full section of students really getting into the game.
We don't need an Aggie bonfire type casualty at our games

Thanks for the medical report about student Garrett's head injury. I pray for his healing. After he recovers, I'll bet there are some liabilty issues to be settled about the goalposts. If there weren't so serious, he could easily become a symbol of student support for the revival of SMU football fortunes.
