My Only Complaint

It is hard to complain after a win, and my complaint is not with the team.
My complaint is with the sound system at our fine stadium.
Is it just me or does every pre-recorded messages sound like the teacher in a Peanuts Special talking to Charile Brown?
" Wah- Wah" ?
And why is the Band miked? I can hear them just fine by themselves. Putting them over the sound system just creates an annoying 1 second delay.

Go Mustangs, Beat the Hello out of Boise State.

I was blaming the sound system on my age and partial hearing loss in one ear. Glad to hear it is not just me. The "30 seconds with a Mustang" or whatever it is called is like a foreign language to me. PA Announcer is fine but anyhting thru the vision screen seems difficult to comprehend.

It is an experiment they are trying to get the band's presence to be more 'everywhere' and less like a band on the other side of the stadium. More like the environment in Moody. I'm sure the athletic department would be interested in people's comments on it.

If they are interested then shut off that d__n music before the game. My wife and I refuse to go in until the kickoff becasue of the music. It is too loud -- and it is awful!!!!!!!!!!

Yea, I hate the whole idea of the PA system. I don't care how much money SMU spent or how "top-of-the-line" is it. PA systems suck!

It so hypocritical to have the PA system and then do "rah-rah." ugh.

perhaps you could explain what you see as the hypocrisy?

^^sure.

The whole thing behind "rah-rah" is that one year (long ago) the cheers did their cheers on a PA system and it sounded like rah-rah-rah! So that's when it started.

Another thing...WE MADE FUN OF BANDS THAT HAVE MICS IN THE PAST! It's like the equivent of the band playing They Yeah Song or wearing plumes of the field.

Score Board & PA

*Most of the scoreboard promo's I do find kinda cheesey.
*I hate the canned music. Too loud. Bad music.
*We have the Mustang Band and the Alum Mustang Band (I really like these folks showing up to rev things up as well.)
*I did like the Jerry Levias promo for The Mustang Band.
*For so much money spent on a stadium, the PA system seems sub-standard. Too loud, muddy sound, etc.
*Not enough scores from around the country.
*Those they do post are waaaay behind. The USC game had been over for 20 minutes when our PA was still announcing Standford 28 USC 17?
*Post scores regularly. A kid with a 'hand-held' could keep up with it.

What the hell. We won!

Either eliminate the mic on the band, or eliminate the delay. I heard Varsity twice one note at a time.

You can't eliminate the delay, or you'll still hear it twice, only in reverse, speakers then live band. The only way to do it with no echo anywhere is to cascade delay the speakers around the stadium, and I suspect you'd still hear about three different delays at any one location on the home side.

The principal reason for putting a mic on the band is that the poor souls in the stadiaum club (which has no opening windows) can't hear the band. Therefore, someone had a great idea, put a mic on the band so we can pipe the music into the club level. Once again, no one saw the forest for the tree. The sound that is piped into the club is also the same feed that is piped into the stadium. Ooops.

I personally hate the mics because with them being on much of the time I have to keep my observations on the play calling along with my comments on the family lineage of many players and officials to myself and thats just not quite right.
