Craig Swann in Boise

Postby Mustang75 » Mon Sep 27, 2004 10:48 pm

During last year's broadcast of the Boise St. game, Swanny said that he couldn't wait to go to Boise next year. This quote is not exact but doing my best 'Hitman from Quitman', "I've heard the Canadian snow geese think their fields' a pond. I'm gonna take my dogs & my guns & get my limit". Swanny, take the dogs, take the guns & keep our guys laughing on the plane. It's week 5...time for an upset! And Swanny, let us know if you bagged your limit (I know you read this board!). We'll be listening...

He brought it up again at the beginning of the San Jose WIN. If he could get those dogs and guns through the airport, I could easily see him at the Friday walk-through, blasting divots into the blue turf from his "blind" in the press box.

Idaho and Canadian goose hunting? There would be a possibility that far north of getting a few Greaters. We don't get Greaters this far south very often. One wishes Swann luck on his hunt but he would probably have better luck over a bean or rice field. Canadians are not like ducks and don't decoy to water very well. He may have better luck trying for Speckle Bellies instead. Specks will decoy to water. And Specks make a fine Thanksgiving goose as well. That said, good hunting and make sure to have steel and a plug.

Sorry guys, goose season isn't open yet!

It won't open here until Oct. 9th. You'll just have to do like the rest of us and pick them up off the turf after they have unwittingly committed suicide!

Hey, Crazysportsfan....just how the hell did ya'll come up with that turf color scheme? (I know it's the school color...but still!) I'll say this: when I'm watching a game or highlights on ESPN, when I see the Smurf Turf I know I'm watching Boise State! The same can be said for the checkerboard endzones at Univ. of Tennessee!

I believe it started as a kind of publicity stunt. BSU recently had the opportunity to change the color when they switched to fieldturf, but the majority of administrators and fans asked to keep it blue.

Like you mentioned, football fans recognize the field immediately. This may be the last time SMU fans get to see it since you are changing conferences, so please come out if you can. It looks much better in person than on television.

P.S. Bring your decoys... :P
