Boise Game/Jumping on and off the bandwagon

If any of you think this game with Boise will be close, you are sadly mistaken. Boise will beat SMU by at least 28 points.

So don't panic or gripe about how bad this team/program is when it happens. People need to learn to be patient with the process.

I would judge this team by the games we have a chance at winning such as Tulsa, Rice, La Tech, etc....

He's not talking to the team, and it's called reality. On a positive note, we played a must win game last week and took care of business. The mounting pressure of the "streak" was becoming unbearable, and a loss to San Jose would have sent us to new lows. I will be extremely happy if this team can at least score some points and keep the game respectable. Call it negative if you want, but it's our reality right now.

Sweet Christmas! Can't you have a 'vision' other than DEFEAT? My reality consists of a 'vision' where SMU ALWAYS has a chance to win! And this Saturday is no different! If you go into a game expecting to be defeated, why even play the game at all? Do you think Coach Phil talks to his players the way you guys talk? GET WITH THE PROGRAM!

The important thing is to play hard and get better. The winning and losing will take care of itself.

The point I think RA is making is that we can get all excited, like after the TT game expecting to beat TCU and then get all down afterwards. Let's maintain an even keel here.

Speaking of TCU, how in the world did we not score against their woeful defense? They gave up an average of 53 points in their other 3 games and we got blanked.

Among other things, RA knows handicapping odds on a team. If it is only a 28 point game against a ranked team on the road, that might actually be progress for our program right now. He's right aobut not letting a win over SJSU go to our heads, creating unrealistic expectations for SMU just yet. The winnable games left on the schedule number only 3 or 4 at most. We will be glad to get any more wins this year when this is done.

MrMustang1865 if you want to be a cheerleader-just do a cheer instead of trying to convince us you know the first thing about what the hell you are talking about-the rest of us may actually want to have a rational discussion.

Exactly.....let's not come back here on Monday and have people saying how bad this program and team suck.

Most likely, this game will not be close. Progress was made when we soundly beat a team we were a 2 point favorite over.

We have already increased our 2003 output.

Stallion: kiss my a**. I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything. I go into EVERY game expecting a win. Not a loss. I was raised to not have a defeatist attitude. Stallion and rich_alum can sit around all day long talking about how we're going to 'lose'...I'd prefer to have a positive outlook on things and want the Mustangs to come home with a win. Go back to watching "Cheaters", Stallion. I'll hang with Mustangs35SMU and SCAMP6381.

The point is you have picked them to win every game for 50 years so you are a) ignorant or b) naive. Which one is it? You may be a good fan but obviously not one worth wasting time to listen to. I'd bet that most people on this board come on this board for intelligent exchange of ideas-I'd sooner slit my wrists than to come on here to listen exclusively to yet another cheer without substance for dear ole SMU. That's why we should have a cheer line where guys like you can go to keep from boring us to death and all you giddy guys can talk to each other and get yourself "fired up"

Once again, Stallion...you can't get your facts straight. I am not 50 years old...yet. If you don't like my posts, don't read 'em. Go back and watch some more "Cheaters".

I don't 'pick' SMU to win. I don't gamble. However, I go to every game - be it for SMU, Sam Houston State or whomever I am there to support - expecting my team to win.

What a sad life you must lead (perhaps that's the reason for your comment about slitting your wrists) if you go to a game expecting or anticipating a loss. Why the heck even go to it?

You remind me a lot of a guy that I used to know who always thought the worst and when the BEST happened, he would act like he knew it would happen all along.

I am always amazing that it is either/or, when talking about our Ponies and a team of young men wearing our colors, who are busting themselves for each other and SMU.

1965 deserves the respect of all true fans. He is more than entitled to wish for and, even, expect a win. What is wrong with an alum or fans having that attitude or wish.

We always have "reality" and others to remind us that our love or support is not worthy of this attitude. There is room for a wide range of posts from we don't have a prayer to expecting to win. Give him and yourselves a break.

Anger, regrets and disappointment is often shared by most (especially the last 17 years), but let's not forget the role of a "SMU Fan":
