Watch List of BCS Busters

Postby Water Pony » Fri Oct 01, 2004 10:17 am

In the battle of have's and have not's, here is my list of current BCS Busters, who fight the good fight, except when playing the Mustangs:

- Louisville Cardinals
- Boise State Broncos
- Fresno State Bulldogs
- Utah Utes
- Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles

And in a stretch catagory for the deserving, the undefeated:

- Navy Midshipmen

since Louisville is going to the big east I wouldn't necessarily consider them BCS busters. In fact I would prefer them to lose as much as possible so that the big east will be an even weaker conference next year. I know that right now they technically are not part of the BCS, but when comparisons start getting made about whether or not non-BCS schools are good enough to get into the BCS bowls, once Louisville moves they will not consider a Louisville BCS bowl game this year as proof that non-BCS teams are good enough to get access, and money.

On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney?

Navy gets a big test in two weeks against Notre Dame. If they win that one, they would definitely be elevated to potential BCS buster. They did beat Duke and Vandy this year (which are weak BCS teams). As an aside if ND wins, they would certainly be headed to a nice show down with USC. I'd love to see Navy beat ND and then have ND beat USC.

I agree that Louisville will not be deserving as a BCS Buster because of their move to NBE, which will struggle to maintain BCS membership. Only WVA looks like a power in a weakened BE.

Last night, Navy beat Air Force, 24 to 21, and remains undefeated and in a strong position to win the Commander-in-Chief Trophy. Beating ND this year would be the break through game. ND has 40 straight at this point but has dodged several Navy bullets in the last four years.

La Tech knocked Fresno State off the Watch List. On deck:

- Louisville (last year to qualify, until NBE loses its automatic bid.)
- Boise State
- Utah
- Southern Mississippi
- and long shot, Navy
