I think it is realistic to win at least 2 of the last 6 and possibly 3.

Last year we had little to no pass defense. And that lack of a pass defense allowed Rice to look like a throwing team. That has changed. We know SJSU can't stop the run. We can. We have better athletes than last year so we should be better against the Rice's offense this year. We are better at pass defense this year and that will be an immense help against Rice. We also have a more balanced offense as compared to last year. That should create problems for Rice. SJSU can't throw ans did run well agaisnt Rice. We can beat Rice. We could win 3 out of the next 6. Possibly 4. And with some success and confidence, we might even have a chance at 5 wins out of the next 6. This is a better team than last year. And it is improving every week. If we win 4 total this year I would be delighted and that is possible.

I have hope against Rice but here is my concern. Our pass defense is improved, and more importantly we have aggressive corners and safeties that support strong on the run. Question is... are they mature enough and disciplined enough to respect their area of coverage to degree that when Rice fakes the option and pulls up to pass, will they be prepared to cover, or sucked in on the run fake to a point they will get beat deep. The option is a run offense and you need strong defensive back support, but not at the expense of a deep throw for a score "every so often". This is what Rice has done before and hopefully we are getting the personnel to not have it happen again. Also, strong LB play is essential on the option and we are awful green and thin in that area. As Stallion alluded earlier, this is an offense we do not regularly practice against and that is where lack of experience will show, i.e. Navy 2003, and Rice 2003.

Since Fresno lost to LT on the road, therefore LT was at home, our game at Fresno still looks very tough but I am not ready to say "no chance." LT we have here, that should be considered a reasonable shot, at least as good as Rice on the road. UTEP is on the road, they have shown toughness there. It will not be easy but possible.
We need to take care of business with Tulsa and Nevada here. Winning a game or two in October will help. Rice, in that regard, is a pivotal game. We beat them then LT is more likely. It could mean the difference between 2-9 and 5-6.
