QB's

Postby ponydawg » Mon Oct 04, 2004 11:04 am

With out straight up bashing either of them, who do yall like?

They obviously both have their advatages and disadvatages.
That Drive after halftime was the best drive we have seen in a long time!
Eckert did a great job on that Drive. He shows some great signs of being a QB and then he makes a bad read like when he threw that int in the endzone. I wish they would have not yanked him so fast, or would have let him get a few more series in.

I like it that Romo has wheels, but the D knows right off the bat that he is probably going to run. I would have liked to see the run option with Romo and Dorsey going to the outside, the draw up the middle just doesn't work right now. He made some good throws, is he just not that consistant?

All in all I think I feel we have the chance to be more productive when Eckert is back there.......thoughts?

I like both. Eckert seems to have a good deep ball but the WRs need to catch the ball. He has tossed too many ints though, at least one off of a receiver. He is our best bet against teams that have trouble with the pass. Boise's weakest defensive part was the pass defense.

Romo has been our most efficient passer and he is a good runner. That was less evident against the #3 rushing defense in the country so his results against Boise did not show that strength. He is our best bet against teams weaker against the run.

In any case, I like both when a change of pace may help. 8)

Am I crazy to think that Eckert might be more effective against Rice because the Owls practice against a running QB every day?

Their rushing D is #32 and passing D is #110.

Actually this may be somewhat misleading as their YPC is not quite that good and their pass efficiency defense is not quite that bad. But suffice to say they are more vulnerable to the pass.

Now there has been some discussion that Rice's secondary had been decimated due to injuries. Does anyone know if they expect some back this week?
