Prediction time!

Postby Corso » Thu Oct 07, 2004 4:22 pm

OK, PonyFans, it's time for the predictions for Saturday's game against Rice.

- The three-headed monster of Munlin, Dorsey and Massey team up for 171 rushing yards and two scores.

- Tony Eckert cracks the 200-yard passing plateau and throws for two more scores.

- Justin Rogers and Desmond Jones will have one sack apiece, and Wilton McCray will have one from his LB spot.

- For the second week in a row, SMU will score on in interception return, this time by Brandon Jones.

- Don Ieremia-Stansbury will have SMU's first fumble recovery of the year.

#1) OK, that seems doable, or if you add in Romo, Rice has a statistically average run defense at #67 in YPC allowed.

#2) Rice does not have a very good pass defense (#106 pass eff. defense, #104 in yards per attempt at 8.52,) if the WRs catch the passes this seems doable as well.

#3) 3 sacks against a rushing team, maybe not.

#4) Rice has lost six picks, let's hope you are right.

#5) How hard can it be to get a fumble, SMU is one of only two schools not to get one. Rice has put 4 on the carpet.

Score? 24-23 would be wonderful. 8)

I don't know if we can shut down the Owls offense - it's certainly given us trouble in the past - but after San Jose racked up 70 on them, I think we should be able to score on them.

Give me 37-23 .... PONIES!

Like the optimism, but how about the weather, guys?

Rain, rain, rain.
Maybe not during the game, but tonight, tomorrow, etc.

Doesn't Rice Stadium have artificial turf?

Seems like it did two years ago, at least on the side lines. Carpet style turf too, not the fake grass.

SMU - 3
Rice - 2

The SMU offense is responsible for all points scored.
