Fred Turner

Am I nuts to think the move of Turner to RB might be a plus this season? I know he started as a CB, then moved to WR, then back to CB. But he's extremely fast, and was a terrific RB in high school. He doesn't have the bulk to mow folks over (a la Munlin), but if he can find a seam in the defense, look out. I also think he has good hands. But can he block?

Anyone know if he's expected to get some carries this week? Or will they let him watch and learn the RB role in this offense first?

FRED "TEE" TURNER is very much capable of handling this job fast ,dedicated, hard worker. I believe he was out of position on the team.Fred has worked in the offseason as if he was to play games every Saturday of June, July, or early August. he is more than capable to fill that position.Yes he will need time to get in the playbook and learn his plays, but if his dedication in the offseason is any indication of what this position requires he will be or is a good person for that position. No you are not nuts. In a one set back field you need speed to hit holes and make your running lanes.Massey and Munlin are fullbacks. These guys would be hell of blockers for "TEE".Unfourtanately we don't run that type of offense.Fred deserved this oppurtunity and I pray he gets the job done when his time comes. THIS KID HAS BEEN DROOLING FOR THIS CHANCE :!: :!: Like fine wine he will need time to get his game going ,but I KNOW HE WILL PERFORM to the best of his abilities at this time.Yes , this has been the teams cry we are young and need time but this is a positive for our team :!: :!: GO MUSTANGS BEAT THE OWLS FEATHERS OFF :!: :!: :!: :!:
GO MUSTANGS FIGHT ON TO VICTORY !!!!!!

I don't know much about him, because I haven't seen him much (since he redshirted last year and I've only been to two games this year, and don't know how much he's played.) But I do know that coaches and teammates think he has game-altering speed, and that's something you can't have enough of. Get the ball in the hands of a guy like this, and good things can happen.

I don't know how strong Turner is, and how his body will handle the pounding that comes with the position. But what I've heard the most about him is that in addition to being super-fast, he's a great all-around athlete. If numbers dictate that they play him at RB, or CB, or WR -- or all three -- it's rare to have a kid who can handle multiple positions.

I still have faith in the other RBs -- and all the Mustangs -- but I think this is a potentially very exciting move.

this team desperately needs more athletes like this on offense-I'm mystified as to why he was placed on defense in the first place unless he has trouble catching the ball.

He made a lot of catches (including in traffic) during the spring workouts/scrimmage I saw, so I think his hands are OK.
I agree with Stallion - more speed!
