Coach: Player didn't fulfill conditions
Oregon releases Nebraska-ex; player to transfer again

Associated Press

EUGENE, Ore. -- Oregon coach Mike Bellotti released Richie Incognito from the football program, saying the former Nebraska center failed to meet certain conditions, according to a published report.

Incognito, who withdrew from Nebraska after being suspended from the team for disciplinary problems, enrolled at Oregon last week and was on scholarship. He never practiced with the team.

"There were conditions we had set down and set forth for him to be admitted to our program, and they were not met," Bellotti told The Oregonian.

Bellotti did not elaborate.

Incognito, a 6-foot-3, 300-pound junior from Glendale, Ariz., was an all-Big 12 selection last year. He has one season of eligibility left.

The Cornhuskers suspended him indefinitely for what coach Bill Callahan called repeated violations of team rules.

In February, Incognito was charged with three counts of assault stemming from a fight at a party. He was found guilty of one misdemeanor assault charge after a three-day trial in June and paid a $500 fine. Another charge was dismissed, and he was found not guilty of the third.

When Bellotti announced that Incognito was coming to Oregon, he said the lineman had to complete an anger-management course and adhere to a strict code of conduct.

Bellotti said the decision to grant the release was made Thursday. He said Incognito has contacted other schools to inquire about transferring.

UH! We don't need any angry off field problem child on the Hilltop. This is a CLASSY program not a TRASHY program. If he didn't meet the qualifications to be part of the team he was no serious from the begining.Do you say Incognito needs to counseled :?:     :!:

Yeah, he needs serious counseling.

But tell me there aren't some out there whose response is "but he's big and he can really block."

I don't want him, either. But the story does make you think. I just hope his temper doesn't derail what looked at one point like a sure NFL future.

Unfortunately, the kid's a time bomb waiting to blow. If he got kicked out by Coughlan and Belotti, my guess is that Bennett wouldn't want him either and our faculty Senate would not accept him for any kind of waiver. Who wants to deal with the liability issues of his being admitted to SMU if he beats the stuffing out of some other student. He's had two chances and he blew it. I'm sure TCU would like him. That being said he is 300 lbs. and a by all accounts an excellent football player.
