There is no excuse for what happened at Rice. And I think we use the young team rationale a little too much, there are young players everywhere including Rice. One thing that may be overlooked though, is that inexperienced players and teams rarely play well on the road. 4 of SMUs first 6 games have been on the road, and 4 of the last 5. That wears on a young team. We have done fairly well in both of our home games. This week is another opportunity for this team to show something, this time at home. As long as we play well at home, I think the uglier road losses will fade away. 3 out of the last 5 games are at home.

We got out played, out coached and got our fannies kicked. I think we all know we are better than that. I still go back to the first of the year, when everyone thought a 3-4 win season was the needed sign of improvement and probably a reality. That is still the case, three of the next five games are winnable.

Hopefully Bennett and his assistants can get the team prepared this week. The only post game interview so far this year where he has not said that he and his assistants must do a better job getting the team ready was after the San Jose St. game.
