Former SMU star Uzooma "Uzo" Okeke has landed in the training camp for the Chicago Bears.

Uzo lettered at SMU from 1989-92, first as a defensive end, and then as an offensive lineman. He bounced around between Shreveport of the Whatever Football League, and then in Canada.

They say he's up to 6-2 (that's a stretch, unless he's grown since he graduated) and 310 pounds -- meaning he's found his way to the weight room and the buffet table.

Uzo was one of the most popular players on the team when he was at SMU -- let's hope he sticks with the Bears.

Good to see Uzo still playing. He could be a nice addition to the Bears' line.

The link Hoofprint posted says Uzo is 310 pounds. Was he that big in college? I know he was a good player, but I had no idea he was that big.

It's great to see an offensive lineman make it from SMU. Brannon Kidd made it for a brief time with the Indianapolis Colts a few years back, and I still believe Someone ought to give a tryout to Trey Bandy. I know he's coming off a hurt ankle (Achilles, I think), but the kid is huge and could make a coach really happy.
