Just wondering if someone can explain all the "The Ticket" bashing on this board. I can be quite the pessimist, but after four years of college I have never lsitened to the station and don't even know where it is on my radio dial. What is so wrong with the Ticket? If they are being negative, they are probably just stating the obvious, which is SMU football is not very good right now. Somebody please help me to understand why this radio station is being blamed for people like me voicing their displeasure with the state of the program currently.

I don't know why The Ticket is blamed for the opinions expressed here, in large part because I never listen to the station except when the Ponies are on the road.
There's nothing wrong with the station as long as you take it for what it is: a forum for a bunch of non-journalists (except Norm, and to a degree, our man Rich Phillips - he's pretty damn good) to say whatever outlandish thing they can come up with, whether it's "Jerry Jones looks like a lizard" to a discussion of the anatomy of various women. Basically they're looking for "entertainment" (and in the case of The Ticket, I use that term VERY loosely) that will prompt calls and will keep people listening, and listening to ads on the station. They have nothing in the way of sports reporting. If that's what you're looking for, then it's a great station. If you're looking for actual information with any real depth, then The Ticket is no better than the static between stations on the dial. So it all depends what you're looking for.

I listen to the Ticket all the time when I am in the car. It is about the only thing I listen to. I like it. Some people don't. That is fine. But why people attack it is beyond me.
SMU should give them something to talk about, before you complain that they aren't talking about SMU. What do you want them to talk about? Losing?
Regarding SMU being the hometown school and being entitled to good coverage, I asked this question a year ago and got no answer: Which do you think there are more of in D/FW, SMU football season ticket holders or UT season ticket holders? How about local alumni?
Some people need to quit projecting their anger toward the people who are not responsible and start blaming those that are.
