Is there any truth to the rumor going around that the Green Elephant has been sold, and will be closed down in mid-December? To be replaced by a wine bar, of all things? That's awful! (Although, to be fair, the rumor mill also suggested the Elephant might re-open elsewhere shortly thereafter....)

Does Brady still own the green elephant?

Yes, it will close on December 11th, if my memory serves me correctly. I was advised that it was going to relocate but as to the future location, I am not sure.

Well the Chartreuse Pachyderm was the longest running bar in that space in my memory. Longer than Blossoms, Grubbs and Grumbles if I recall correctly. Nothing lasts forever.

This is terrible. I have so many (hazy) memories in that place. Best bar food in town, too, in my opinion.

A wine bar next to SMU? Won't last. I'll miss the Elephant.

See? This is what happens when you let the Republicans take over.

Republicans = wine
Democrats = beer

Lamont, do I understand your statement?

Replicans are "wine"ing about Kerry not conceeding and the democrats are crying in their "beer"?

No, he sold it years ago. I think it is owned by several barstaff. Yes, it is closing soon. Not sure the exact date.
