I'm Done

My Fellow Mustangs,
It took 10-years, but I am finally done with SMU football. I have missed only two home games in that time period, but enough is enough. The thousands of dollars I have spent losing could have been used for much better things.
It is actually a very sad. It is like putting down your old dog, thinking it still has life, but you finally realize it needs to be put to sleep.
I am ever hopeful for that new puppy, but I might need to wait until next year.

SUGGESTION: Holdon until you see the fallout from 1-20. As I've said for years SMU will either play football on a relatively even, academic playing field with the other Texas schools or it will eventually drop down in classification. If it doesn't happen after 1-20 then arguably it never will.

As one who has often posted disappointment with our record, I am more disappointed at losiing another veteran supporter of the program. But I do understand why fans vote with their feet. Enough is enough. I sometimes wonder who will be the last one out before the lights are turned off.

Don't give up on the Ponies, DBB! They're not giving up, and neither can we.
I'm coming up for the game - hope to see all PonyFans there. The Boulevard awaits - then it's time to send Tulsa packing!

Good luck to you and your husband. I know Duke basketball will re-energize you. Good time to sink those "thou$ands" in the stock market.

I think you are picking a bad time to quit. Truth is we don't know what will happen over the next few weeks. As I see it, any ofhte following are capable of happening:
1) Bennett's team shows real progress and gets a win or two;
2) Bennett goes 0-fer 3 or gets a single anemic win.
If #1 happens, then there is reason for some optimism.
If #2 happens, then it depends on what happens next.
A) Bennett could be retained and there is a real commitment to be competitive and necessary changes are made to increase the level of talent;
B) Bennett could be retained and nothing changes;
C) Bennett is fired and a new coach is hired with promises made that all necessary changes are made and there is a real commitment to be competitive;
D) Bennett is fired and a new coach is hired from some spare locale and nothing else is done.
I can find reason for varying degrees in optimism for any one of those.
I think you owe it to yourself to see the season through.
