Dallas Morning News (11/09/04):

Developers have bought the aging Hilton Inn – more recently called Hotel Santa Fe – at Mockingbird Lane and North Central Expressway and plan to turn it into a luxury hotel, shopping and condo complex. Work on the $80 million project will start before the end of the year and includes a 10-story residential high-rise.

I'd hate to be on that demolition crew. Can you imagine the smell of curry?

I remember when they built that hotel. It was the cream of the crop back then and ALL visiting Mustangs (and lots of opposing teams) stayed there. For the Cotton Bowl we had a ful house of Mustangs and a fabulous Brunch etc. It was so sad to see the place deterioate and I'm glad to see somethig constructive being done with it. Maybe it willgive the Radisson some competition now.

Yes it was! Didn't they have a drink known as a "Scorpion Bowl"? It was always a good place to go to get tuned up before a night out on the town.

Not coming down, being renovated:

"The original 1960s hotel tower will be renovated to be operated by San Francisco's exclusive Kimpton Hotels. The redevelopment will also contain about 25,000 square feet of lower-level retail with loft-style condos above it in a low-rise building facing Mockingbird Lane."

I wondered what happened to it. The last time I was in Dallas, I saw the new name and figured it had become a bit seedy. The Hindu Hilton? LMAO.

There are people living in that hotel, month to month. It has definitely gone down hill. I have actually stayed there three times...don't ask why.
