SMU mentioned of course.
Funny,
SI takes us more seriously than the local media outlets. Thank you EmeraldCityPony.

Ohio State has about as much chance of self imposed death penalty as a pimply faced teenager does to stop masterbating. It simply will not happen.

That's too funny Ponyte. Ohio State will investigate, probably self-impose some sanction, like no bowl for '05, no postseason for basketball in '06, reduce football scholarships by 5 total- basketball by one, and dissassociate certain boosters. Then it will declare itself clean and get no further penalty from the NCAA. This is call the Fresno Plan.

I would not get too excitied about any BCS team geting the DP whether self imposed or not. Should the unthinkable ever happen I feel it would be very depressing to see how a team could properly recover from the DP by recommitting itself to a strong football program. In other words doing basically the opposite that SMU did policy wise, and coupled with the BSC power I think you would see a relatively short recovery time. That would only emphasize how bad the policies adopted by SMU after the DP affected the program much more so than the DP itself. OSU would also have no difficulty in attracting or paying a high profile coach to revive the program. I am sure they would be recovered within 3 years of restart of their program.

The part about SMU imposing post DP regulations is RIGHT ON.
Change is coming.

We did have a name coach after the DP, Forrest Gregg, an SMU alum who took the lowly Cincinnati Bengals to the Super Bowl. Even he couldn't overcome the hurdles the Board put in front of him.

Post DP problems are not with the coaches, but the administration and policies. You can run off as many coaches at you want, but the administration are the ones who need to start being held accountable.

well, this week has been good for a laugh. It's Ohio State. The double standard will be confirmed once again when all is said and done. I'm sure the OSU administration will be praised for it's cooperation with any investigation.
