As you can tell by my name, I have a split allegiance. Went to UConn for undergrad & SMU for grad school. I've been an SMU season ticket holder for five years and I attend as many games as I can.

I am *really* looking forward to C-USA next year. It seems like a natural fit fo us. We should be able to compete with Tulane, Memphis, Houston, Rice, Tulsa, etc. I hate to start off on a negative note, but I think C-USA is probably our last, best chance in 1-A football.

Welcome aboard. Hope our back from the DP victory over U.Conn in 1989 will not affect your dual loyalties to SMU. Now you can follow the BE and the C-USA with equal interest, with emphasis on the parity between the two conferences for BCS purposes. See you around the campus. :D

I was at the 1989 game. SMU won (31-30) with about 5 seconds left on the clock. The Ponies got some breaks and clearly wore down the UConn defense in the second half. I was cheering on every play - for both teams. It was like watching two of your children play against each other. A bittersweet win. Back then, the thought of UConn upgrading from 1-AA to 1-A was just dream (finally accomplished in 2002). The SMU crowd that night was big and loud. It was a lot of fun.

I support both schools. Fortunately (or unfortunately), they don't cross paths very often.

Thanks for your comments guys.
