Forget about having the youngest team in Div I. We may have the youngest offensive line, as we started only underclassmen on Saturday night. This is amazing when you realize that o-linemen need maturation time more than any other position. This bodes well for the future of the offense, I'd say.

Very true. Brad Kieschnick is the grand old man of the offensive line, and he's just a junior. You look at the guys who play on the line -- Darrin Johnson, Ben Poynter, Caleb Peveto, Bryan Turner, Kieschnick, Martin Guidry, Justin Boren and Chris Urbanus -- not a senior in the group. And next year, Sean Lobo will be added to the group, and one of his teammates told me he has "all the tools to be great." I'd still like to see a bunch of OLs added in February (including a few JUCOs, preferably) to add quality (mature) depth to the line, but this group has the makings of a talented unit. Coach V is reportedly a terrific OL coach, and should do very good things with these guys. The future on the OL looks really good!

I agree with both of you. It looks like the foundation for a solid line is there, but admittedly, we need a lot more linemen. You never can count on a group of offensive linemen getting through the season as injury-free as this group has. The odds just don't make that likely. We've been very fortunate that the big boys have remained healthy this year, but we need to seriously bolster the depth there.

What's the report on Kieschnick's arm/shoulder? He looked like he was in a lot of pain when he came off the field the other day.

Bennett said it was just a "stinger" and that Kieschnick should play in El Paso.

Next year, we'll be adding Vincent Chase as a tight end, too. Heck of a blocker and heck of a prospect.

One guy who never gets any publicity is Martin Guidry, but he's quietly had a pretty darn good year. First of all, he's stayed healthy. But more than that, he's been pretty solid in both run blocking and pass blocking, and he seems to have good mobility and balance. With another couple of years under Coach Faucette, might he grow into a tackle?
