Random question.... but Saturday during halftime I noticed a very...enthusiastic fan on the home side waiving a license plate with "SMU" on it. Is that anyone on this board?

You haven't seen him before? Man, that guy has some energy! He should tape the license plate to a stick so he doesn't have to hold it :)

*ahem* That's me. Those are the plates that my father - who was an SMU yell leader in 1947 - obtained the first year that 'special plates' were available in Texas. I've held on to them since his passing. I still use them on the car that I inherited from him. The plate that I was holding up at the game is from 1982.

Interesting note: I brought that license plate to each game that SMU won at home this year. I don't plan to stop bringing it next year.

Thanks for the kind words. And the suggestion about the stick. Not a bad idea.

The license plate is a good idea!
We need to have more folks holding up signs, for the occasions that we're actually on TV and so the players can see messages of support.
