Jimbo Fisher Rumor

Don't know if anyone has brought this up, haven't been on the boards in a while.....

www.finebaum.com says this under the coaches hotseat..

SMU - Phil Bennett appears to be on the way out. Early names: Jimbo Fisher.

If we could get Jimbo Fisher we would be in business in three years. Those of you with connections to the administration, it's time you put your foot down and did something. I think he would be a "Tedford" like transformation here.

Tired of the cellar? Lets get this guy hired and then sit back and enjoy.

Why don't we give this topic a rest. We have won 2 in a row. At least wait until after the UTEP game, OK?

I realize that. But there were too many games left on the table this year that we should have won. We are never going to get any better when people are going to accept 3 win seasons.

Give me a break.

When was written? That notion might have had some merit a couple of weeks ago, but two wins later, Coach Bennett is going nowhere. That guy's site says he's in Alabama - he probably hasn't read any scores from the last two weeks.

He has got a quote from another teams website about their coach that was posted late last night. So it can't be that dated.

Just food for thought.

leadpony will now probably start a debate with another alter ego of his and we'll sit here and wonder why this is being debated. Schizophrenia rules.

Does anyone really think Pittsburgh's coach will be fired at the end of the season? They are just outside the Top 25, and have games against W. Virginia, and USF left. If they beat WV who they get at home does anyone think they won't be in the Top 25? If so, why would they fire their coach? According to this fine gentleman though he is on the hotseat.

Phil B. isn't going anywhere. Bet the bank that he'll be here thru 2007.

This Finebaum character sounds like a sports version, Rush Limbaugh wannabe.

I wouldn't bet the bank on Phil making it through 2007 but I would imagine that the 3 wins gets him to 2005, unless a name coach wants to come here for Phil like money. If we beat UTEP then Phil gets 2005 under his belt no matter what.

Hog wash...simply hog wash. Bennett should win more games next year with an easier non-conference schdeule; returning almost every starter (including QBs); and another year with the same offense. The team has really progressed offensively the last few games with the new offense. I expect bigger things next year.

I do not want another football coach. I like our coach. Let's work on leveling the playing field with our competition before we start discussing new coaches.

East stang, just pointing out my opinion that we need to get a coach that will win games. That was the food for thought. I think that this guy is one who will be a great head coach somewhere. If you are ok with being one of the worst football teams anywhere, and having no consistancy on a week to week basis, then that is fine for you. I am tired of it.

This sounds like troll activity.

Given our results even thus far in 04 I think most of us will expect 5-6 wins next season and hope for more. We will not be people being satisfied with "inconsistency."

As the comments above testify there are good reasons to hope so. We are currently the youngest team in Div IA and there have been several key injuries to slow our progress. Next season depth and experience should start to evidence themselves.

After the last two wins we have put ourselves in position for next season. Talk of a new coach now is absurd.

Beating UTEP will just be icing on the cake.

Now, beat UTEP. :D

Another verse, same as the first. I'm as optimisitc as anyone, but we hear this every year. A couple late wins to end the season and everyone thinks we will have 6 wins next season.
