I always thought Sagarin's rankings were pretty interesting and an interesting barometer of the program. Of course, he has us in the cellar at 133, below both Nevada and Tulsa which we beat. But that isn't the reason I have given up on his rankings.
Does anybody really believe Harvard is the 49th best team in the country? Does anybody really doubt SMU would beat the cr@p out of them? I feel pretty sure that Kansas, Kansas State, Michigan State and Nebraska (all ranked below 50) could take Harvard as well.

Well, I'm sure Harvard is a very smart team.
Then again, didn't AKPye say we were going to be the Harvard of the South?

I doubt that SMU would "beat the crap" out of anybody.

yeah there is definitely some displacement in his ratings of Division 1AA schools and the reason of course is that he treats a point of margin of victory against a Division 1-A school as equal to a point of margin of victory against any Division 1-AA school.

Harvard will probably not even survive the first round of the 1-AA playoffs. If they go at all.

Don't be so fast...Harvard is coached by former U of Cincinnati Coach (he left for Harvard, not fired). As you know, the Ivies don't play in the I AA fb playoffs so the last game is Yale.

We already did...San Jose State...
We also beat the crap out of Tulsa in the first half of that game and Nevada in the second half of that game

Seems like our 89 team broke the top 100 with 2 wins against Division 1-AA schools which supports that. Why are we so low with 3 wins against
Division 1-A schools?
Personally, I think the BCS is slipping him some bucks to change a couple algorithms here, and there to favor a couple conferences getting eliminated from Division 1-A.

IMO, Sagarin is better for hoops than FB. He admits that his numbers 'smooth' with more games (30 BB v. 11 FB). Plus his measurements include margin of victory, which narrows more with BB than FB over the course of the year, especially since you play some twice.
To the point of Stallion: "figures lie & liars figure". BCS could use some persuasive polls with Utah screwing up the status quo. Hope that's not happening.
Lastly, Sagarin's "Rating", "Predictor" & "Elo-Chess" vary greatly even now in week 11 (look @ Georgia's rating v. ELo-Chess).
Today- who cares about polls... BEAT UTEP!!!
