Dale Hanson is a joke....

...a bad joke. Just pathetic. Last night in introducing the John Elway interview on the 10:00 newscast, Hanson stated that Elway was in town for a "speaking engagement"....he couldn't bring himself to say "SMU Athletic Forum". The interview, however, took place in front of a blue banner with SMU Mustangs in red plastered across it (hah!!). The reporter doing the piece ended the segment standing on the field in Ford Stadium (they didn't show much more than the grass field and brick wall) saying "his name (whatever it is) reporting in Dallas." Again, couldn't say "SMU Athletic Forum". I'm sure Hanson saw to that as he is the Sports director for WFAA. Do you still wonder why we don't get much attention in Dallas???

Nice work, PK - I noticed the same thing.
Keep in mind that WFAA and the Dallas/Austin Morning News are both owned by the Belo Corporation - which clearly has some sort of bias against SMU. That's why it's always funny/ironic when our P.A. announcers read those ridiculous promos for the Morning Snooze, saying something like "the dallas morning news - keeping you in touch with SMU athletics."
Pathetic. Belo should be bought out by Gerald Ford and Lamar Hunt and forced to cover the only D-I university in DALLAS.

Your right about the BELO bias. Even though they gave $10 million to prop up our crappy journalism program, they're still biased. It doesn't have anything to do with our football team being pitiful.
I love SMU, but get your heads out of the sand.

Wasn't Dale the jerk who broke the Death Penalty Story? I think his picture was taped to the underside of the toilet lid in the old SMU training room for awhile.

He is the jerk in question! He is always being so righteous about the cheating, etc. in college sports and then when we try to do it the the straight and narrow way....he gives us no support or exposure and just lets us sink out of sight. Thanks a heap....JERK!

There are a few other channels in DFW and the FW Star-Telegram (with better writing anyway). We do have a choice when it comes to where we get our news... we don't have to succumb to Belo and its CEO, Jack Bumps.
I think Doocy is the best, and FOX gives SMU the most coverage. You could also waste your time with Newy Scrubbs. And I'm not even sure who CBS has - I can't get past Rowlett.
In fact, let's just turn off the tv.
