Mike Price

So where is Coach Price going to be coaching next year? I have to think he's "one and done" at UTEP. He has a long track record and a track record as a very successful coach. Yes, he had that little PR miscue while he was the temporary coach at Bama, but word is he's been squeaky clean this year, and he's raised UTEP from the dead and has them likely headed to a bowl game.

Personally, I think Florida would be a great fit, but since that's the state where he had his much-publicized "event," I can't see the school taking on that PR circus. There's talk that Nick Saban and/or Bob Stoops might be very high on the wish list of the Miami Dolphins, in which case there's an opening at OU or LSU, but I don't see Price fitting there.

Longshot: Florida hires Mike Leach and Price moves to Tech, or Florida hires Urban Meyer (more likely) and Price takes over at Utah.

Thoughts?

Squeaky clean? Well I guess what goes on in Juarez stays in Juarez.

Tech will take any jerk as long as he wins. They obviously don't care about off field antics or whether their coaches exhibit even a modicum of sportsmanship. Sounds like you are on to something IF Leeech leaves.

No way Price goes to Utah. No nudie bars in Salt Lake City. I don't think that he'd go to Tech although the Aggies wooed Gillespie last year. He'll stay at UTEP for another year or two and find a Big XII or X job. Nebraska might have his name written all over it.

I dunno what their bowl chances will be after we beat them. I'll get back to you next week.

Night at a Strip Joint: $200
Letting "Destiny" order room service, to go: $1000
Losing your dream job over a skank you just met: priceless

And this is what got him sent to UTEP, a Dee Snyder look alike:

You would think the head coach of Alabama could do better. That picture alone could make a gamecock on viagra go limp.

Mike Price did not deserve to get fired, if anything Bama should have paid for his counseling after waking up next to the Loch Ness Moster.

I've asked my sister to stay off of the streets but she just won't listen to me.

She's definitely a two bagger. Rich Alum can't you do the boy a favor and find him a good looking hooker preferably on Friday night BEFORE the game. I mean we want him tired and off his game don't we?

So you think it would have been less of a PR disaster had she been a porn star?

Sometimes I really wonder.

Mike Price is not going anywhere. He got a second chance at UTEP and he will never forget that. Also he's getting old and if you look at his resumé, he has coached in 2 schools for the last 20 years or so (Weber State and Washington State). He has said he is not a person who changes jobs at the first chance and his wife is a big influence on him and she has stated several times that she likes El Paso a lot. Besides if Price wins the $20 million suit against Sports Illustrated, I don't see a reason why he would go to another university just for the money. UTEP has great facilities (the Sun Bowl is a gem), great community and fan support, great recruits and a commitment from UTEP to win in football and basketball. Why would he go somewhere else?

P.S. Comparing Price with our former basketball coach Billy Gillispie is wrong. First, Gillispie is still young and money is a big issue for him. We Miner fans never expected him to leave UTEP way too soon. We thought sooner (2 more seasons) or later he would leave for another school with a great tradition in hoops (like UCLA, Utah, Minnesota, Michigan), not Texas A&M. That was a surprise for us, but $$$$$ matters more than tradition on these days. Price is getting old, has proved he can coach and recruit in places like Pullman, Washington and he has said many times he will never forget the great opportunity UTEP gave him to coach again.
