Random Revenue-generating idea

O.K., this is a little out there...

What do you guys think about putting a restaurant (open all week to the public) in Ford Stadium -- kinda like they have that TGI Friday's in the Ballpark.

Benefits:
1) Would give me some place to hang out on my lunch hour
2) Would give Ponyfans some place to hang out on their lunch hour
3) Portion of revenue would go to the school
4) Get alumni over to the campus more often
5) Useful place to wine/dine recruits and parents

Again, kinda out there, but wouldn't it be cool! It's too quiet out there... must talk about football... must have recruiting news... please, don't make me go back to work...

Interesting "outside the box" thinking. Were would you put it other than in the coach's office? Image There is an area set aside for the Mustang Club to use in the future....similar to a private club type thing where you could purchase a drink with some kick to it during the game (I think that's what they have planned). That might make for a possible location and it has a great view of the playing field. One (of many) possible drawback is that the area around there is loaded with restaurants, and I assume you already hangout at most of them. Are you sure you need another place to hangout??

Well, maybe there will be a vacancy in the former coach's office...

Didn't know about the Mustang Club space -- I sent in my money to join a few months ago, but other than a welcome letter from Scott Secules, that's the last I've heard from them.

If that's the case, they could consider keeping the Mustang Club space open for food and drinks during the week -- that would give the space some utilization outside of football season.

And yes, you assume correctly. But if you stay on the west side of Central, there really isn't THAT much close to the school, and nothing that's SMU themed.

I like the idea. Get James Bailey on the horn and get him to set up a branch of First and 10 at Ford.

Come on whatasteve, he said restaurant, not sports bar. Speaking of First and 10, I ate there late last night while watching the Stars pull it out for a win. Had a burger and fries....the burger was good and surprise, surprise, someone took the fries out of the vat before they soaked up all the grease...not bad.

1. Would the restaurant really draw?
2. It would have to be tied in the SMU dining - for I see the mass clientelle being students - so the point system.
3. Can it serve alcohol. Remember SMU is a "DRY" campus - Dry especially during the Boulevard
