That was ugly, wasn't it? Frankly, I don't understand fights in football. I mean, grabbing a guy's facemask and whirling him around, that could really hurt. But if you anger me on the field and I try to knock you out with my fist, I'm going to break my hand on your helmet, right? I guess the theory is to hit a guy in the gut, but the swings at players' heads seem counterproductive, at best.
But back to your point - I don't know what it will be, but I bet the powers that be start instituting MUCH larger penalties in several sports. The risks that were revealed in the Pacers/Pistons game probably scared the hell out of owners. If one player punches another, that's one thing, but with fans getting involved, I bet there's some serious over-reaction.
