Anyone else think Mack Brown's cries for includion in the B(c)S might actually HURT him in his annual pursuit of the national title in February? I would think if he keeps his mouth shut and just charms kids and parents everywhere, he'll rack up another amazing class. If he whines too much in the media .... might that have a negative effect on his recruting effort? I think so.

I think Mac's main concern should be beating a top ten team once every 5 years

Without even considering the ridiculous collection of talent he's had at Texas (and to a lesser degree, at North Carolina), is there anyone who's been a head coach longer (don't even mention the raises he keeps getting) without ever winning a single conference title?
I can't wait to see him suddenly reverse fields after he accepts a bid to the Cotton Bowl -- which UT types somehow think isn't good enough for them -- and stands at The Lawry's Prime Rib while his players and the players from the opposing team snort down a few tons of beef, while he tells anyone who will listen what an honor it is to play in the Cotton Bowl, that this is a dream for all young players (except those he told would play for a national title at Texas when he was recruiting them), etc.

To be fair:
Rest assured that I'd love to be sitting here in a few years writing "Dammit, the Ponies went 10-1 again this year, but we didn't get the conference title. Oh hell, I guess it's another New Year's Day at the Cotton/Holiday Bowl."
Yeah, I think I'd accept that.
Just because OU has Brown's number...

Mack Brown has the misfortune of being in the same South Div with OU whne it comes to the BCS. Granted OU has his number, but then again Brown has aTm's number too. The blesssing of this controvery is that the BCS schools are turning against themselves in a movement they may yet undo the cartel that oppresses the rest of Div. 1-A football.
