How many 'ships available at this time?

How many committments that would likely be honored?

How many offers have been made and to whom?

Are there 2004 walk-ons who will get a scholarships?

How would YOU divide the 'ships by position?

Looks to me like a QB is a must and (I'm with BUS!) SMU needs linemen on both sides of the ball. Also, really need more balance than last year.

7 I think. One QB, One LB, 5 linemen. - I am not the detail guy with a list of names. I do know that Enright from SLcarol is one of them. Someone wil post a complete list.
There are a few, like two that I hear will be rewarded for making the team.

It's nice to see those "big uglies" on that list. My understanding is that they are still after a few more of them. If things fall in place, this could be a really good class...I think the contract extension was done to help with the recruiting. It lets players know that the coach recruiting them is going to be around for their whole time there. Some may not care, but there will be instances where that is important to the recruit.

Another result of the contract extension is that it stands at a stark contrast to the rest of college football. Coaches at ND, Stanford, Florida, BYU, East Carolina, Indiana, & Washington all were gone in less than 5 years (the traditional 'honeymoon'). While I have never liked ND, Stanford has shown just as much hypocrisy with the firing of Buddy Tevens. While I have not decided if I support the extension (they didn't ask me for some reason), I am proud we haven't fallen into trap of getting rid of coaches before their time.
