I haven't seen where this is official yet, but it's a good start at ending a money grab mess started by ABC-TV I believe.

BCS unraveling

Until the BCS can solve the problem of who is #2 in their rankings, there will be enough internal pressures to keep the BCS off balance (I'm glad to say). The money is just too big for the schools for bowl selections to be only business as usual. The non-BCS schools couldn't accomplish what the the inequities of the polls have done. The sooner the system fails the better. On with a playoff in Div. 1-A.

I'll believe it's over when I see it.
But hats off to the AP.

I totaly agree that the BCS cartel needs to be broken up. But, be careful what we wish for. The BCS conferences rely on the vast imbalance of revenue they enjoy with the current model.

Break it up, they will need to find it another way, including the possibility of pulling away from the NCAA all together. The dope they are on is very powerful. The funding arms race favors them (da!). And why would they unilaterally disarm?

We (non-BCS and private schools, especially) deserve a leveling of these resources, but don't expect a real, level playing field ever.

What could be done incrementally and substantially to help us, while convincing them to participate?
