New Coach on Staff?

KING COUNTY (Seattle, Washington area): Ballard High School begins the new year looking for a football coach.
After a successful five-year run that included a trip to the 4A championship game in 2003, Ballard coach Doug Trainor is stepping down to take a coaching job at Dallas' Southern Methodist University.
Trainor, who went 29-21 at Ballard, said leaving for a graduate assistant coaching job was tough.
"I think (Ballard) is the best job in high school football," Trainor said. "I'll miss the kids and the people who work here. It'll be tough to leave."
Ballard athletic director Doug Bruketta gave Trainor credit for rebuilding a moribund program. Bruketta said he planned to post the job on the Seattle School District's Web site yesterday and expects to name a successor by the end of the month.
