Utah is No 1

Not that anyone will really say it outloud on a sports program. Utah has a rightful claim just as Auburn and USC do. No one came within 14 points of them all year and they stomped the poor BCS team sent to their bowl. Do you doubt that they would have played USC a better game than OU? This all proves once again that if you aren't BCS, you can't win the "National championship". The "Plus 1" formula that Auburn and others are pushing still wouldn't work because they would still leave out Utah. Playoff, PLAYoff, PLAYOFF.

Everybody just wants things to be inclusive enough to include them at a given point in time. Tuberville wouldn't be saying a damn thing if he was not the 3rd wheel. I don't hear him standing up for Utah. Mack Brown sure got quiet once he got what he wanted...this time. All very sad when you think about it.

Let's see: Playoffs work in college basketball, baseball, soccer, etc. Playoffs work in NCAA Div. 1-AA, Div. II and Div. III college football. Playoffs work in the NFL, as well as arena football and European NFL Football. Playoffs work in Major League Baseball and the NBA, too.
It's just ridiculous that there shouldn't be a playoff system in NCAA Div. 1-A football, too.

Nice to see that someone else agrees with me. Thanks, Dooby!

Saw an interview with Urban Meyer in which he even said they were not the national chmapions even thouhg undefeated. He made it clear that as great as Utah was this year they were not in the league of USC, Auburn, or even Oklahoma. He pointed out depth of each team and the opponents they were forced to face in conference as two makor points...

Again, that's opinion. Maybe informed opinion but opinion none the less. I might even agree but without a playoff we'll never know. About 1/2 of the games each week in the NFL are "upsets" even though there is much informed opinion thrown about each week. OP , in his advanced age, can now predict the past with almost 100% certainty.

My thought is that USC may very well be the best team in the country. Is there any way for me to prove that they are better than Utah or Auburn? I can gather the opinions of 100's of others but until they play each other or participate in some form of playoff system it is just an educated guess on my part.

And lets not forget who Urban Meyer's new employer is. You can't be anti-establishment if you are now part of the establishment. University of Florida + about 20 others = The BCS. Frankly, Meyers comment is a slap in the face to the Utah team and something that has no business being said by their departing coach. I'm sure the Utah players would like a shot at USC or whoever.

Well important to note which I didnt in the previous post is that the interview with Meyer was shown in clips but was originally conducted by espn previous to Urban commiting to Florida.

If you recall, Urban claimed that he had been in discussions with the Gators for weeks prior to the announcment. If not the case, he would have been a keen supporter of both Utah and the non-BCS schools' credentials. It was the right thing to do.
In other words, he was going and has gone "native."
