NEW UNIS FOR 2005?

Spoke with Ryan Kennedy in the Spirit Shop on Wednesday and he said they're making some slight changes to the unis for 2005. Obviously, a new patch for C-USA to replace the WAC patches. However, he said there may be some 'tweaking' in other areas of the unis, too. He wasn't sure exactly what it would be, though. He said all of the players have been given the option to buy their WAC unis.

2004-Helmets

Ol' Dan will soon be replaced by Bob Shieffer, a Froggie from TCU.

hey 65 -

your post: "However, he said there may be some 'tweaking' in other areas of the unis, too. He wasn't sure exactly what it would be, though. He said all of the players have been given the option to buy their WAC unis."

scares me for sure -

"tweaking" now days can mean anything, especially when your replacing a complete uniform (by selling to the players) & if the players, decide, forget tradition & everything else -

i have a harder & harder time relating to the football program the older i get -

if only baseball was around, i could forget football almost all together & concentrate on a sport that relishes tradition!

N&C: I understand. I've never been much of a baseball fan but I now have a 20-year old stepdaughter who is the biggest Texas Rangers fan ever and is slowly bringing me around to her sport! She even has the distinction of having NEVER been to a losing home game by the Rangers (she has the ticket stubs to support it!) in the last 10 years! Unfortunately, baseball has been its own worst enemy with the strikes and labor hassles (I realize I'm talking about MLB, not college). Football (college) remains my favorite sport...always will be. I don't think about the uniforms that much. I agree that tradition is something that should be maintained. SMU, in my opinion, has done a better job than most universities in that regard.

yeah - i agree with u about keeping 'some' tradition in the whole scheme of things - we have done better than most however, i just hope they don't go over board next fall -

couldn't agree more with u about MLB baseball / yeah , i've had to take my 10 yr old to those games as well / try not to say to much about all the %^$# about the pros so he can still enjoy the sport for what it is - the national past time -

college baseball - now that's truly fantastic!!! when rice won the world series in 2003 & cs-fullerton beating tex-ass last yr was even better!!!!!!!

Ny neighbor who played for Coach Royal and the horns always asks when SMU is going to dump the new UNI's and go back to our traditional ones. He said the old white helmets were the classiest in the NCAA.

The white helmets prominently featured the Mustang logo, which is the best logo in college football.

The navy blue helmets are okay, but you can't see the maroon/burgundy Mustang. It's all too dark and there's not enough contrast.

I agree that the dark navy helmets don't help display our wonderful logo very well.

White helmets!
