Posted: Tue Feb 22, 2005 11:41 amUSC and Stanford. Private schools that have managed to succeed on the field and the Court, and keep their academic reputation intact. Duke has a great basketball program, but its football is as bad as ours. There are other schools like Duke that are great only in basketball, Wake Forest, Georgetown, Villanova, St. Josephs, Marquette, and DePaul which have kept their reputations intact. The Service Academies have been streaky in their on the field level of play. I always respect them, but they have not always been consistent winners.
