Remember when...

Remember when Bob Hope said that an atheist is someone who doesn't care who wins the SMU-Notre Dame game. Today, SMU is faced with agnostics who don't care if SMU even plays.

Speak for yourself.

It appears to me that he is speaking for himself AND a whole lot of the rest of us.

I think you missed the point.

Sarcasm is lost on you.

You're right. I failed to see the sarcasm. The changes in our society since the time I went to SMU (1950's-60's) are appalling. Certainly something we all should take more seriously.

SMUStang: I was in your area this past weekend. Bluebonnets are out and it's gorgeous down there. You're lucky to live in that part of the state...except for the fact that you have to smell that foul stench wafting over from the Austin campus.

Mr. Mustang 65 - I agree with you 100%. I pull for whoever is playing tu. And the bluebonnets and paintbrush are beautiful right now. Were you one of the ones riding Harley's through here?

No, I was *not* riding a Harley-Davidson or any other two-wheel conveyance. I was driving my 1989 Cadillac Seville with the "S.M.U." license plates and, needless to say, I got a few stares from the Teasips and Aggies who were traveling along Hwy. 281 with me.

I'll bet that was a sight. I hope you made it to the Bluebonnet Cafe in Marble Falls for breakfast or to Coopers Oldtime BBQ in Llano for lunch. If not, you'll have to make another trip down here for that.

The line outside of the Bluebonnet on Sunday was around the building at noon! Where's Cooper's BBQ? I'll be down that way the weekend of April 15-17. If it's good Q, I may try to stop in on the way back to Dallas.

Go south of Marble Falls to TX-71. Go west on TX-71 about 25 miles to Llano. This is a very scenic drive with lots of wildflowers. Follow TX-71/TX-16 north to TX-29. Go west on TX-29 about 3 blocks. Coopers is on the left. Texas Highways and Texas Monthly rate it the tops in the state. It is good, but if you get there at noon on Saturday, particularly in the bluebonnet season, be prepared to stand in line for about an hour.

If you have time while you are here give me a call. I would love to talk to an ex Mustang. One of my best friends down here played with Doak Walker, and my dentist is a 1950 alum also. Still practicing. The number is 830-598-2411. Ask for Tom.
